Hello my name is Simon Cohen and I am the director of Rainbow Solutions NW Ltd.

I decided to create Rainbow Solutions to concentrate my efforts in providing Business Analysis, Software Design and Project Management services to organisations seeking to implement significant change to their IT systems.

I, like many IT programmers, started out as a youngster who was interested in computing and over the years developed an interest in writing my own programs. Despite reading Business Economics at University I always maintained my involvement in computing and it was not long after graduating from University that I originally started my professional IT career with a Birmingham based company called JBA International.

During my time at JBA I rose from a trainee grade to a senior developer (the quickest ever within the company) within the corporate development team and soon progressed from coding software to writing functional and technical specifications.

I spent a significant amount of time abroad in Germany and France working on client implementations which ranged from a small security company to a large scale European implementation of JBA's System 21 ERP solution.

In 2000 the 'Tech Bubble' burst and JBA was bought out by GEAC. I stayed until the third round of redundancies but in the end decided to take the VR package and set up my own company - VISOR Technical Solutions Ltd.

VISOR was created to implement small scale solutions for small companies. This involved developing small pieces of software and web sites as well as a vehicle for facilitating contract work. This has worked well for many years and the company itself still exists.

However, it recently became apparent that I had moved on from the origins of VISOR and was working on bigger projects for larger client organisations. The VISOR business model was no longer sufficient for the type of business I was working for and seeking to attract - it is difficult to attract small organisations with ideas such as Solutions Architecture and Business Process Re-Engineering as they just see expensive invoices.

I therefore decided to keep VISOR going in its own small way but to consolidate many of the services that I had been providing for a number of years and provide them within a new business model. So whilst Rainbow Solutions is a new company it is very heavily based on nearly a decade of experience in providing business analysis, consultancy, software design and project management services.
